Let me introduce myself. I’m Kim Karr. My photographic journey started like many other sports photographers. My son played little league baseball and I had a camera.
I started taking my son’s picture as he played and that led me to taking pictures of the other kids on the team and sharing them. After a while, I became interested in the technical aspects of photography. Now we are here. I have a website, social media, a camera bag full of equipment, and am expanding beyond sports.
To me, sports photography is not just about capturing a moment and telling a story, but also trying to give the most impact of that moment by enhancing that story. I try to take the viewer to places they can’t go and capture the things they don’t see in the midst of the action; the human emotion with all of its grit and, of course, the action frozen in time.
I take the same approach to other types of photographs that I work on, such as candid shots. I observe people and situations and try to find that quick moment to freeze and develop.
